Even more photos

Its been a bit photo overload here this week, but since I've been going through them anyway I figured I would show a few more pics.  There will probably also be a post of the photos P and J take.

Project complete

I got a whole lot of photos printed, and put them into albums for the girls this week.  I just put the photos into the albums willy nilly though, so I do need to go through them and re sort them at some point, but they are at least printed out and in photo albums.  Its a good start.

A small selection

Going through our photos has been so rewarding.  Its great seeing pictures of us all, if a little sad seeing how much my girls have grown.

Photos

Flower hunting
I have to confess that I am hopeless at actually printing out photos of the girls.  So I end up with an ever expanding number of pictures on the computer, but very few tangible photos for them to look at.

So my project this week is to print out a whole lot more, and get a few of all my beautiful girls on the walls.

Pipitea shrug - sneak peek

I finally picked up my needles again after sorting through my stash, and have cast on a shrug for J.  The pattern will be published once I'm finished, but I'm really happy with it so far.
Joining up with Creative Friday today.

Summer sorting

My project this week is to sort out P and J's summer clothes, and also to go through my own wardrobe and put away all my maternity wear.  Its a little sad because I'll be giving it all away, no more babies for us.

Yarn

This is how my yarn started out at the beginning of the week, the pile at the back is to keep, the one on the left is undecided and the right front is to give away.  I'm happy to say that all the give away wool has in fact been given away.  Additionally I pulled some pink acrylic back out of my keeping stash and gave it to my sister in law.  She's far more likely to actually knit something with it.

I was really undecided about this yarn.  Its the twisted sister yarn I was gifted when C was born.  It was a lovely gift, but I'm just not sure about the colours.  I decided I'll knit something generic with it, and if I don't like how it knits up, I'll pass it on to someone else as a kind of knitting pay it forward.

This is a lovely homespun yarn that I have no idea what to do with, but is too nice to give away.

You can't have too much pink wool with three girls

This amazing yarn was from a swap, and given to me by Hannah of Red Riding Hood Yarn's fame, and it is destined for a shrug.

This is also from a swap, and also destined for a shrug.

These are some little 4 ply odds and ends that I should have de stashed, but I have plans, probably for hats or maybe booties.

I've also still got my 100purewool 4ply.  That I have no idea what I will do with.

So all in all, a pretty successful destash.  In case you're wondering, the big balls I gave away to the Hospice Shop, and the small scraps went to P's kindy for the kids to use in their crafts.

Change of plans

My project this week was supposed to be sorting our summer wardrobes.  But P and J have gone to my parents for the week, so it seemed a little unfair to sort things out in their absence.  Although it would be significantly easier, P and J love going through their clothes and getting all the new ones out.  So instead I will be yarn destashing.

So far I have three piles - one to keep, one to give away, and one I am undecided on.  But watch this space, because there will be some moving around of wool over the course of the week.

My keeping pile - not surprisingly it is the biggest.

My undecided about pile.  I'll have to think a bit more about these yarns.  Have you ever destashed? How did you go about it? How did you decide what to keep and what to get rid of?

Party smock

Well, life has been all go around here, and I'm having some technological issues blogging on my tablet (oh the first world problems), so my posting has been a little delayed.  However, here is the birthday present I was working on last week.  This is the first time I've made a proper present for someone other than family, and I was a little anxious about getting it right.

But I'm happy to report that the recipient seemed very pleased with it.  Actually that's not true, the birthday girl unwrapped it and then threw it to one side in a frenzy of present opening.  Her Mother was very pleased though so that's the main thing.

I made a smock using the mayfly pattern, but again with seams.  And I realised as I was whipping this up, that I am capable of whipping things up! Don't get me wrong, its not that I'm a super accomplished seamstress or anything, but I am now familiar enough with both my patterns and my machines that I can confidently sit down and sew without having to stop and think very carefully about exactly what I am going to do next.  Its a great feeling, especially since I do so much of my sewing in little bursts between baby sleeps and the dreaded housework.

Although the very observant of you will notice that although I managed to cut the fabric so that the pattern ran up and down on all the pieces, I managed to cut the back pieces with the pattern going up, and the front with the pattern going down.  Note to self, must try harder next time.

One project a week

3/09 -   Birthday gift
10/09 - Summer sorting
17/09 - Yarn destash
24/09 - Photos

Look I even got a picture sorted out.  I may even one day figure out a button (don't hold your breath though).  If you think this seems ambitious with a 2 month old baby, don't forget my kitchen table.
