...One to go
My project this week is to make J a skirt for her birthday. I was going to make her a smock, but she loves skirts so I thought I would give one a whirl. I'm hoping to embellish it with a horse of some description - possibly using a bleach technique, so watch this space.

One project down...
I've finished my Pipitea shrug for J's birthday. Pattern to follow, probably once I have a picture of it actually on someone, its a bit mean to publish without a finished look. So I just need one more birthday present for J.
The body of the shrug
The pattern detail.
How it will look on (well if your child has a rolled up towel for arms, but you get the idea).

Blogtoberfest
This one totally snuck up on me, and despite really really wanting to take part, I just don't think I can manage it at this season in my life. However, there are a heap of really cool blogs taking part so just click on the image to see a list of them all. I'm hoping to visit quite a few over the month, even if I don't take part.

Why, quite a lot really.
Its school holidays here (well kindy holidays for us) and we've been having a fabulous time. I have really great memories of the things Mum did with us in the holidays and I now totally see where she was coming from. If you'd like some holiday inspiration check out Once upon a holiday. Lots of great activities and fun times with the kids.

Birthday ideas
Since my projects this month are all about J's birthday, I have been trying to come up with some present ideas for her. I have to confess I find this harder as the girls get older. Having P as a big sister also means that J doesn't need as many things either. So my list of present possibilities so far are:
Undies - everyone needs more undies, and I have a couple that only need some elasticating.
Pipitea Shrug - because I'll be lucky to finish it before her birthday anyway
Animal finger puppets - both P and J are currently obsessed with a certain cartoon that involves living deep inside the jungle and rescuing animals.
Rescue pack - see above
Maybe I'll try and get through as many presents as I can, and then the extra's (if there are any) can go to Christmas presents (guess what my projects for next month are likely to be).

October projects
My projects for October:
1/10: Birthday presents for J
8/10: Birthday presents for J
15/10: Birthday presents for J
22/10: Well you get the idea
29/10: etc
I have made nothing for J's birthday yet, so next month will be a concerted effort to make all her birthday presents, so less one project a week and more one project a month this time around.
